  • Company established on June 27, 1996
  • Power Purchase Agreement signed on June 24, 1997   (Duration: Sep 03, 1999 – Sep 02, 2029)
  • Commercial Operation begun on September 03, 1999
  • Acquisition by Suez Energy International on January 22, 2002 (Duration: Jan 22, 2002 – Sep 02, 2029)
  • Project Financing Achieved on December 23, 2002




Development, Construction, Commissioning & first Operations

  • The project was originally funded and undertaken by Daewoo Engineering/Construction Company of Korea as an EPC Contractor in 1993 following a 30-year BOT Agreement with
    the Government of Lao PDR to exploit hydroelectric resources in Bolaven Plateau
    which had been untapped but provided the best site for harnessing water power. 



Transfer of ownership

  • The project was transfered to SUEZ Energy International (60%) and Houay Ho Thai Company Limited (20%) in 2002. SUEZ Energy International has become one of major players in electric power industry sector in Lao PDR. 
  • The plant was commissioned successfully in September 1999, and has served the PPA with EGAT faultlessly ever since.
